Good on you! I'm just a wh*re when it comes to views...
Oh, love me some views too-believe me! But the wondering I get is: am I chosing movies/TV shows that have the best potential to enrich my viewing experience, or am I saturating my time with hate-watching things?
Haven't watched anything Star Wars since TLJ not going to start again anytime soon.
Wise decision! 🤝
@@KyleCorwith just as background I was 13 standing in line opening day for Star Wars 😀
@@markb9896 Are we talking the original trilogy or prequels?
@@KyleCorwith original Star Wars A New Hope :) sorry I forgot to add the 1977 date. Was myself, my best friend, sister and mother at the Uptown Theater in Washington, DC. Never been back to see another movie at that theater.
Hahahah that’s right 😂
Both versions of Payback are overall pretty good, but this raises a more interesting question than which one is better. If you were to make a movie, release two versions with slight differences, and arbitrarily assigned one at random as the director's cut that represents your original vision before studio suits got a hold of it would "real movie fans" like us just accept it as superior regardless of quality?
I can imagine that a few people might automatically feel that way because of one being the original director’s vision.
Respect.
✊
Good content.
You started late then
That courtroom scene for his parole was intense.
Amazing, yes!
Bye bye Trump hater
Is politics all you think about your fucking pathetic
I'll make an exception for being critical of somebody who's passed away. Donald Sutherland was a total scumbag communist enemy of free people on planet Earth.
Not aware of that. What I know is the positive impact he had as an actor.
@@KyleCorwith i liked him in Kelly's Heroes and others. His politics and associates were very bad.
I never watched theatrical cut (it could be better indeed), because all I care about any movie is the director's original vision, and studio meddling doesn't interest me.
I recommend that it’s worth it because of the different watching experience.
With this particular movie I agree on that, because of Gibson's remark that both versions are good and have worth, but generally 90% of director's cuts are far better. @@KyleCorwith
The bullet farmer actor died a couple of years ago, that’s not him
So it was a CGI face replacement?
@@KyleCorwith yeah, I didn’t notice but that’s the case… 3 actors died between Fury Road and Furiosa, that’s why Colossus isn’t in the film
@@victorvonvoid1938 Knew about the other two but not BF actor. I did noticed that the character's face was artificial to a degree but not to that extent of bringing a dead actor back. Job well done!
My thoughts on Furiosa: 1. It's a good/great movie. Worthy of paying to see at theaters and own when it comes out. I rate it 8/10. The fact that it is not doing well is silly to me because I've seen a lot worse action films that made way more $. 2. Shortcomings at the box office: The main problem with it in my opinion, is that it is a prequel. To have a successful prequel you need an already engaged large audience. Mad Max is a niche category of action that does not have a humongous fanbase. Furthermore It has been like 9 years since Fury Road came out so it has lost a lot of its prominence. Imo Miller should have made sequels to Fury Road much sooner after Fury Road, and after he garnered a much larger fanbase, *then* do the prequels. It would probably have exploded into a very successful modern era saga. 3. Anya Taylor Joy did a pretty good job, but Charlize is too iconic for me in this role. Charlize did such a badass job she easily deserved a trilogy, even if it was playing a supporting role secondary to Max. I also think they could have maybe used Charlize in Furiosa. We didn't need a perfect reduction in age by 25 years. If they had her looking slightly younger than in Fury Road, it could have worked. Some cg tweaks and makeup I think could have accomplished this slight reduction in age from how she looked in Fury Road, despite even being 9 years older. Furthermore, she is only in the film for the last half (or less) of the film, so there would be less editing to do making this easier. This also would have generated a better outcome at the box office almost guaranteed as people loved her in that role. Charlize has also aged fairly well so it may not have been that difficult. Anya as well sort of looks like an alien or something. I think partially because she wore a bald cap and didn't shave her head which made her head look bigger. Would have looked better if she had it shaved imo. 4. More on it being a prequel: I didn't need a prequel. The mystery of Furiosa's past was fine with me. I think about 99% of the fanbase would have preferred a sequel to Fury Road over a prequel. Sequels that have more explosive high octane scenes, but also more fleshed out story and world building. So I really don't know what's motivating George Miller in this case. It seems almost like he's just doing whatever he wants, doesn't care about $, and isn't really in alignment with the fanbase. Just because you've had that script this whole time doesn't make it a good idea or what the fanbase wants to see. 5. Praetorian Jack: A surprising welcome addition. Wasn't sure of him when he first appeared but he did great. The actor did great. 6. The sound design: The sound of the engines alone deserves mention. By itself it makes it worth the ticket price to hear it in theaters. It 1 upped the Fast and the Furious in this regard in my opinion, which shouldn't be possible because this is possibly the one redeeming element of The Fast and the Furious movies. 7. The music: was not really memorable for me. 8. World building: They expanded on this much more which was awesome. It invariably takes away from a bit of the action but I don't mind some of that. 9. Chris Hemsworth as Dementus: Gets his own mention. He did great. And all the rest of the actors did well. It was a believable world.
In total agreement when it comes to Theron. She was missed when I was watching Furiosa. Her physicality is so much of what made that role memorable. Hopefully Miller puts it in gear and is able to make the sequel we all want. By the way, I watched your ‘Fury Road’ supercut and enjoy it. Also, your uplifting montage for your grandfather. Good on you for honoring him. 🤝
@@KyleCorwith Yeah I came out of the theater missing Charlize. She encapsulated badassery with some femininity, sexuality and mystery all rolled into one. It's a rather lethal combo, in a good way. She's got the looks for sure, for that role. I didn't get much notable vibes from Anya despite her doing alright. Maybe I need to see the film again for proper judgment on that. And it's cool you checked out my videos. I tried to make Charlize just a little bit more badass in that video. I think I did it justice. Glad you enjoyed them.
Endgame is my fav comic book movie 🍿
What do you think of what Marvel has become post-Endgame?
@@KyleCorwith though there were a few good projects like No Way Home, GOTG 3, Shang chi, and Loki, I feel like despite those highs, I feel like it’s went downhill. I think it’s mostly going downhill in terms of quality and overarching narrative because I don’t see any direction. Most of them I feel like lead nowhere. Most of the projects, aside from the good ones I’d listed, I feel like are mid at best. Hopefully Deadpool 3 is good, the Brave new world reshoots are worth it, and I hope the Blade movie gets a new director quick.
My first time watching you, Kyle, and that was a fantastic breakdown. You nailed it in every way when I also loved this film. I liked this movie in a different way than Fury because it gave me more zany characters and we spent more time with story. The action was great though not exactly like Fury, but it did give me story I didnt know I'd enjoy that Fury didnt have. And it also harkened back to the older Mad Max movies in terms of approach to story. Overall I loved it in a different way than Fury, and I agree with all your points. I think this film makes Fury even better. Great breakdown!
Much appreciated! I agree that it does feel more like a throwback to his past work. Do consider subscribing and checking out more videos because there is proper effort put into them.
@12:00 wrong. mad max dragged furiosa back to the citadel.
At most, it’s inferred. But then, what? He just dropped her in front of the cave with cavern dwellers who put maggots on body parts? Maybe. But why? What did he get out of that? Why her? It’s just too ambiguous, unnecessarily.
loquaciousness = things ghay dudes aay
Might want to work on your spelling, dude.
Furiosa could reveal that she was female once she had the protection of Pretorian Jack.
It is strongly implied that Furiosa and Pretorian Jack did ultimately form a Romantic bond.
If you're thinking of them putting their heads together, that was a gesture of trust that she also had with her mother. So other than that, what scene can you reference that exhibits romance?
I had so much fun watching this film! It was so refreshing to watch a fun movie that, yeah, not perfect, but oh my goodness, it was just a blast. Plus, if it's a good movie, I want to see it in the theaters. There's nothing like it. I don't care how good your home theater is, there's just no experience like it!
Absolutely! I’m curious, did you see it first on VOD and then the theater?
@@KyleCorwith theaters first! This past Friday. My friend who has already seen it twice told me and my husband to go see it. So we did and I’m glad we didn’t sleep on it. In fact, I may even take my kids to see it because there really wasn’t anything too awful in it. It’s refreshing to have a movie that doesn’t make unnecessary use of sexual content.
Man I was enjoying your review and then you had to drag the “woke” culture war and anti-Barbie into it. Disappointing.
Was light on it here. My deep-dive video for Barbie is where go all out. 😆😉
When Men, were Men.
Pretty much.
One of my favorite films ever.
SO underrated, yes.
Thank you for correctly referring to pieces from the score as "cues". I can't stand it when people call a cue from a film score a "song" and I feel like a puppy dies somewhere in the world whenever someone refers to it that way. Solid review man. Felt pretty much the same, as you know.
I may have said “pieces” still though but, yeah, calling score “songs” would feel weird. I would say track probably. And I was nicely surprised to see how much we agreed on the movie. 🤝
Good video! Hmmm..... Jack comes from the first Mad Max movie. 🤫 11:44 He did the same thing in The Road Warrior. 17:17 A fractured arm bone with weight applied while twisting will eventually sever the remaining connective tissues. Dementus really only showed a frazzled point when dealing his justice at that point, something snapped from his relatively orderly posturing.
How does Jack come from the first mad max movie?!? Do tell!
I couldn't believe how bad this was. Scream 5 was a rehash of the original and 6 was a shameless copy of the sequel. Same revenge motive. Sam being the most bland, unlikeable character. Diverse, black lesbian Randy copy with her obnoxious commentary. Gen Z kids don't give a shit about 90s horror. The overly gratuitous cartoonesque violence. How many times has Tara been stabbed now like 15? The acted like it was an actual movie with how nonchalant they were. Ghost face just running around the busy city streets..I nearly walked out. 5 sucked but this was just...
Absolutely!
All those details could not be addressed without a 10 hour movie. Good take though.
Thank you! Now, if Miller had chosen to limit or take out the Jack character and focused on that father/daughter dynamic, and streamlined the revenge arc on Dementus, I get a sense it could have been accomplished. At the end of the day though, I do hope a FR sequel will be made.
I thought the same thing about the little girl..the first 30 minutes of the movie I found best moviemaking ever..the mother role is also very good and you can feel that she would do anything to protect her child..and great action sequence (motorcycle chase)..If you have seen the trailer wich I have ofcourse you know...oh this will not end well for our 2 charactars here..and still it was such an intense well done sequence...let's say all before revealing the main bad guy, only spoken of at the beginning...
I actually don't mind the CGI dogs. There's too much animal cruelty on movie sets.
Then it would have been better for Miller to nix the inclusion of the dogs in the scene because THAT CG yanked me out of the scene.
I think the bigger crime here is that you're not getting any views. The UA-cam algorithm is so f*cked
I can only conclude that it has classified my channel variable for shadow ban. Remember the recommendation list on the YT Studio app I showed you? This video is suggested on a “Friends Play Ouija For Fun...” 🤦♂️🤷🏼♂️
Great review. We share a lot of sentiments. There will be some overlap :)
I am awaiting for that one. 😉
Ok, you got us to go see The Fall Guy. Thank you. But not going for this Wide Eyed Girl Boss one. Your breakdown was plenty. Thank you.
I can understand that. 😁 There’s a theory going around that audiences are scared off from seeing it because it has a female lead. I say blame Marvel for that. Hope the video was entertaining and came across coherent and clearly for you.
good job!! ima have to watch it now!
Thanks! And of course, I’m interested to read your take on some of the points-agree or disagree after you do. 😎
Where can I watch the Straight Cut version for free?
UA-cam
Son of a bitch... I guess I'll see it.
I watched them back to back and i loved the directors cut but the theatrical just feels off, the first half is a dark movie pretending to be light hearted and it doesn't work, the ending works a little better since its original but it doesn't make up for the awkwardness of the first half
I understand what you mean. The DC is a consistent vision, while the TC has variance and zags, and the changes become more noticeable when you’re aware of the BTS backstory.
@@KyleCorwithalso i think there was a mistake in your video You said the real budget was 20 million but that was said by the reshoot director and i heard that the film got 20 to 30 million for reshoots so maybe the 20 million was just for reshoots and not the whole production
Watched DC version yesterday. And it has to be the only movie I know, that I prefer the original 1999. The DC version, just felt left open, most was not explained. Was the woman at the train station the same as the one on the phone? And many of the Outfit members, were just forgoteen about. Even though they pursued Porter.
I was an extra on that film shot in Chicago. I was on the train at the end when all hell broke loose and was what I thought to be "really involved" and then when the film released in the theater I was so disappointed to see that they completely remade the ending. I finally got to see the original version and low and behold I saw myself, on screen no less than 15 feet from Mel Gibson! I was so excited, and am so grateful that Hollywood decided to release this version that I was a part of!
So cool! I would love to know the timecode so I could see where in that sequence you’re at…
James Gunn and dc might put a dent into it
Maybe but I have my doubts.
After watching the video, I’m surprised how a lot of his language is used mostly in commercial work
He actually did direct a few high profile commercials.
Great video. Just learned about this guy
Thanks, dude! 😎
Just saw directors cut on cable, I was like wait what happened. Where is the scenes I REMEMBER???. Where is the line stop your making me misty. So I started to search scenes and found this, thanks for the info. Like that there are 2 takes on the movie both are good.
New voice-over on Phone whimpy comical.
Great comparison with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Love that film! I noticed how in shape Gosling was as well, despite having such a bad injury he'd recovered from. I should have remembered that for my own review, but totally forgot - lol! Subbed!
We share that trait. 😄 There are sometimes one or two observations that don’t make it into the final video.
That movie was so good one of my favorite movies last summer! There wasn’t a single scene where I was bored. Mission Impossible movies since Ghost Protocol have been awesome and Dead Reckoning part 1 was no exception I loved every single minute of this movie.
I’m pumped for the sequel! And hey, what are thoughts on ‘Fall Guy’? Just released the review on it: ua-cam.com/video/xvrgjXUGYU0/v-deo.html
Great review, dude. Stunts totally deserve to be part of the Oscars. Did you ever watch the show? Were there any similarities?
Haven’t gotten to. I hear the show is its own thing-and movie is different, which would make it a partly original concept. Anticipating YOUR video on it too!
Such a perfect analysis of the movie 👍
Thanks, dude! You going to see it?
👍🏻 Loved it 👍🏻!
you can imagine..... growing up watching the original and then wanting to see it again. the streaming services had the directors cut AND BOY was i confused.
The video has become part-ways a PSA to combat that confusion. 😁
Is the theatrical version not available on streaming??? Because I like it more...
